This presentation will discuss the purpose, requirements, and best practices related to Certificates of Origin (COs) in global trade, with a focus on the role of Chambers of Commerce. Participants will learn what COs are, why they are required, and how they are used in global trade. This session will explain why chambers play a critical certification role under international conventions and outline common authentication requirements for country-of-origin documents. It will cover advantages and risks for chambers, including member value, revenue generation, administrative burden and liability concerns. Participants will also be introduced to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and its global accreditation and verification initiatives, along with ICC best-practice guidelines for chambers.
